Your identity right now, resting and growing in the dark, is “Beloved.” You are absolutely loved, and not for anything you have done or have become. You are loved for being.
Can you try and carry that with you your whole life? You are loved. You are loved. You are Beloved.
Your dad and I talk about you and dream about our life with you. Both of your grandmothers have begun referring to themselves in third person as “grandma” and talk of you constantly. Your grandparents and aunts and uncles talk about meeting you and when they will come visit you. Right now, as you grow inside of me, you are being celebrated out here.
We will all love you imperfectly throughout your life. Living under our love will require grace on your part.
There is only one perfect Love. Allow that to shape you, and only that.
Spend your time resting in His love for your. Our loves for you are a pale reflection of the beautiful, powerful, all-encompassing love of God.
God knows you through and through already. He knows what your strengths and weaknesses will be. He knows what will make you come alive. He loves you and delights in you. In Him, in His perfect grace is your real self.
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing. (Zeph. 3:17)
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. (Psalm 139:16)
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart… (Jeremiah 1:5)
